Anna Witkowska, ur. 1978 w Bydgoszczy, artystka sztuk wizualnych, graficzka i projektantka, okazjonalnie kuratorka. Tworzy samodzielnie lub w duecie artystycznym z Adamem Witkowskim. W latach 1999–2003 studiowała na Wydziale Grafiki Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku, dyplom z projektowania graficznego otrzymała w pracowni Janusza Górskiego za książkę, która dokumentuje dwuletnią działalność niezależnych artystów w Młodym Mieście na terenach dawnej Stoczni Gdańskiej. Wykłada w Akademii Sztuki w Szczecinie, gdzie współprowadzi Pracownię Opakowań, oraz na ASP w Gdańsku, na której prowadzi Pracownię Projektowania Otwartego i dla Kultury. Realizacje Witkowskiej cechuje prosty i syntetyczny język formalny, często o graficznym charakterze. Inspiruje ją najbliższe otoczenie, zapożycza z kultury popularnej oraz cytuje. Tworzy instalacje i wideo, zajmuje się również projektowaniem graficznym.

Adam Witkowski, ur. 1978 w Bydgoszczy, malarz, grafik, autor instalacji i filmów wideo, muzyk eksperymentalny, producent. Pracuje samodzielnie lub w duecie artystycznym z Anią Witkowską. W latach 1998–2004 studiował malarstwo w gdańskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, uzyskując dyplom w pracowni intermedialnej Wojciecha Zamiary. Wykłada w Pracowni Grafiki Multimedialnej i Pracowni Podstaw Audio gdańskiej ASP oraz w Pracowni Formy Audiowizualnej w Akademii Sztuki w Szczecinie. Wspólne z Maciejem Salamonem tworzy muzyczny zespół artystyczny Nagrobki. Witkowski jest autorem między innymi instalacji wizualnych, dźwiękowych i świetlnych oraz licznych projektów radiowych, nagrań w terenie i autorem muzyki teatralnej. W jego pracach obecne są przedstawiane z ironią nawiązania do kultury rocka czy problemów współczesnego świata.

Anna Witkowska, b. 1978 in Bydgoszcz, is a visual artist, graphic artist and designer, occasionally a curator. She works on her own or in an artistic duo with Adam Witkowski. In the years 1999–2003 she studied at the Graphics Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She received a diploma in graphic design from Janusz Górski’s studio for a book documenting the two-year activity of independent artists in the Młode Miasto in the former Gdańsk Shipyard. She lectures at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, where she also co-runs the Packaging Studio, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where she runs the Open Design and Culture Studio. A simple and synthetic formal language, often graphic in nature, characterizes Witkowska’s projects. She is inspired by her immediate surroundings and popular culture; she creates installations, videos, and works as a graphic designer.

Adam Witkowski, b. 1978 in Bydgoszcz, is a painter, graphic designer, author of installations and videos, experimental musician, and producer. He works independently or in an artistic duo with Ania Witkowska. In the years 1998–2004 he studied painting at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, obtaining a diploma in the intermedia studio of Wojciech Zamiara. He lectures at the Studio of Multimedia Graphics and the Studio of Audio Basics at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, and at the Audiovisual Form Studio at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Together with Maciej Salamon, he formed the Nagrobki music group. Witkowski is the author of visual, sound and light installations, numerous radio projects, field recordings and theatrical music. His works contain ironic references to rock culture and the problems of the contemporary world.

The Witkowski artistic duo create projects inspired by everyday family life and social life to an equal extent. In 2005–2006 the couple became interested in the symbolic dimension of architecture, which resulted in the creation of three video works addressing the individuality of urban spaces.

Remote Viewer is a collection of views of a modern, but impersonal city. Static shots and the graininess of the image, bring to mind documentary footage. The strange atmosphere is enhanced by the editing and ambient music. The piece tells a story about alienation in a metropolis and is a kind of warning against the discrepancy between modernity and the need to live within a community.

The Witkowski artistic duo create projects inspired by everyday family life and social life to an equal extent. In 2005–2006 the couple became interested in the symbolic dimension of architecture, which resulted in the creation of three video works addressing the individuality of urban spaces.

The first, only, best is a video focusing on a neglected park in Chorzów. It shows its lawns, elements of architecture and equipment, as well as monstrous figures of dinosaurs. The video is interspersed with archival photos from the publication documenting the park in Chorzów during its heyday in the 1960s. The narrative, in a dispassionate and monotonous tone, describes a landscape known from the past, humorously contrasted with the present state of the park.

The Past can be read as a symbolic depiction of two political systems and transformations that have occurred with the emergence of new opportunities and moods within Polish society. The work is an ironic take on the history of abandoned and forgotten spaces.
